Though it may not be the greatest time to be selling a home, it's still possible to get decent comparable home values in your area, and make inexpensive home improvement upgrades to increase the value of our home. Ask a real estate agent for tips on building your home's value in ways that don't severely impact your pocketbook. The housing market is turning around ever so slowly, and you can ride the wave as home prices gradually rise. Things like central air conditioning and having a three-car garage can also help boost your sales price.

Appraisal Questions

Before your property appraisal, ask your appraiser how many years’ experience he or she has. Ensure he or she is licensed and certified, and ask how much experience he or she has working in your neighborhood. The more familiarity he or she has in your area, the better.

Schedule a phone or in-person interview with your potential appraiser. Look at some of the appraiser’s previous documentation, and ask, “How did you choose what to put into this?” Ask all your pressing relevant questions in advance. This will ensure you trust an appraisers’ opinion before you hire him or her.
