Stucco Siding Installation In Kincaid, Kansas

Stucco siding has been popular for decades. If you need to find a stucco siding contractor in , you have come to the right place.

Stucco – Popular Throughout The Ages

The use of stucco siding can be dated back to ancient civilizations such as Rome and Greece. The smooth, resilient surface was perfect for painting the frescoes and murals that were popular in ancient times.

During the Italian Renaissance, techniques were developed for molding stucco into decorative shapes; it was usually beautifully painted and even gilded at times. Stucco was a bit different then than it is now; it used to be made of marble dust, glue, and gypsum.

Today, stucco is primarily found as an exterior treatment and stucco siding has been popular throughout the twentieth century and is still very popular today. In fact, new types of stucco are being developed; so be sure to talk to your stucco siding contractor about the possibilities that exist.

How Stucco Is Applied

Stucco is normally applied to exterior walls that have been specially prepared to allow the stucco to be as durable as possible. Often, stucco is applied over a framework of wire; sometimes it is put on over existing masonry or other surfaces.

The Benefits Of Stucco Siding

Stucco siding is an energy efficient exterior treatment, and it can have a charming, timeless appeal. There are two types of stucco siding: traditional

stucco, and synthetic stucco.

  • Traditional Stucco – Traditional stucco siding is made of Portland cement, lime, sand and water. It is fairly porous and is usually treated with a clear acrylic polymer that helps to prevent it from cracking. If your home is exposed to a lot of moisture, using traditional stucco may be the better option. Traditional stucco is also more impact resistant.
  • Synthetic Stucco – Also called EIFS, synthetic stucco is applied over a foam core rather than a wire base. It is softer and it expands and contracts more easily than traditional stucco. It is also more energy efficient, due to the foam core. In addition, it is more flexible which allows it to be used in a more decorative manner – it melds well with other building materials.

Stucco is easy to maintain and repair. Both types of stucco are excellent sound barriers. They are both fairly fire resistant and come in an assortment of colors.
